14 Years of the Farmers’ Markets

We are thrilled to celebrate with you the 14th anniversary of the Farmer's Market in Plateau-Mont-Royal!

There are 3 markets in the Plateau-Mont-Royal: the Laurier market (Laurier Street East, North exit of Laurier metro); the Saint-Louis market (at square Saint-Louis); and the Baldwin market (Baldwin Park, Terrasse Mercure).

One of the things that makes the Farmers’ Markets so unique is its commitment to short food supply chains. Namely, promoting direct contact between producers and consumers. This means that when we buy any product at the Farmers’ Markets, we get to know exactly where it came from and who produced it.

This distribution structure reduces the carbon footprint of transportation, facilitates access to locally produced food and encourages sustainable, polyculture farming. It is also an opportunity to meet producers from Quebec and our own neighbors!

Since the market’s founding in 2009, it has been a significant part of our organization. Over the years, we have seen it grow and evolve into something truly special.

This year, the Maison de l’amitié’s Farmers’ Market is taking its commitment to the community even further, by implementing a gift card, Carte de Proximité. It is a payment model which allows donations to fuel the purchase of fresh, local produce by people living in food insecurity.

Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, come to the markets and enjoy munching on some of the freshest, tastiest treats around!

Grab your friends and family and join us at the Farmers’ Markets. This season we will also have something special at the Baldwin market, and to allow access to a wider range of goods, Maison de l’amitié will staff a kiosk with products from our two other markets!
