Language courses - online session
When we were forced earlier this year to interrupt our March-April classes shortly after they had begun, we then quickly transferred our classes online to give our students an opportunity to stay engaged and to complete the session.
We found in the online setting that the students' learning outcomes were as high as ever, and that these online classes did help to break isolation and build community, despite social distancing.
Very encouraged by the success of this first experience, we've already completed a second online session this summer, and we are continuing to offer our classes online until the situation allows us to decide otherwise.
Details about the online classes:

10 students maximum per class

Classes are 2.5 hours in length, with at least one break

We use the Zoom platform – we will give all the necessary information for getting started
Technical requirements for the use of the Zoom function

The use of a computer is strongly recommended. If you don't have one, you can use a tablet or cell phone, but this is not recommended as these can present technical challenges.

You will need a high-speed internet connection, a camera and a microphone (if you use a laptop, the camera and microphone are normally integrated).

You must have a web browser (Chrome recommended). You can also use firefox, but avoid using Internet Explorer.

If you are a new student at the Maison de l'amitié for the language you want to study
If you are a new student at the Maison de l'amitié for the language you want to study :

1. Fill out an online pre-registration form starting August 28th.
​
2. Take the online written placement test (also starting August 28th). Everyone must take this test - including beginners - before proceeding to the next steps.
3. Once you have pre-registered, you will make an appointment to complete your registration with a member of our staff, by Zoom. These appointments begin September 3 or 4. We will provide you with instructions on how to connect to Zoom.

4. Payment will be made online after the Zoom meeting. You will then receive the student manual and all other necessary details for the class.

If you have already taken a course at the Maison de l'amitié in the same language that you want to study now :
​
1. Fill out the pre-registration form starting Tuesday, October 27th. We will process your application within 2-3 days. After validation, we will send you a link for making the online payment.
​
2. Make your payment online by October 31st to maintain your priority.
It is still possible to register after this date, but space in the classes will become more limited.

3. You will receive the student guide and class login details around November 4th or 5th.
​
