Notice on the availability of places:
Due to the high demand for our courses and our limited space, we cannot guarantee a place when students pre-register. We are a community center, not a language school, and we do our best with the resources we have. We appreciate your understanding, and we are trying to improve our registration process to better serve you.
Many of the people who are left without a place are due to one of these mistakes, please avoid them:
-
In the placement test, the student registers only 1 first name and 1 last name and when filling out pre-registration the student registers 2 first names and 2 last names.
-
Solution: If you have 2 first and 2 last names, please register both first and last names for all Maison de l'amitié forms.
-
-
The student uses one email for the placement test and another email for pre-registration.
-
Solution: Use the same email for all procedures with the Maison de l'amitié. If you change your email address, send us a message at info@maisondelamitie.ca requesting the change in our database.
-
-
The student inverts their first and last name in the pre-registration.
-
Solution: Please write your first and last name in the appropriate box.
-
These are the most common mistakes that cause our students to have 2 or more incomplete profiles and our system does not consider their application for our language courses.
New students:
Once you have completed the first 2 steps of our process, you will need to wait for an invitation to select an appointment for registration. If you do not receive an invitation after a week and a half, please write to us at info@maisondelamitie.ca inquiring about your status.
At this appointment, some people will get a spot, but if the course you want is full, you will be offered to join the waiting list. Being on the waiting list gives you priority access to the course of your choice when you register for the next session. If you did not get an appointment with us, you are not on the waiting list.
Unfortunately, we cannot give appointments to everyone who went through the entire process, so some people will have to pre-register for the next session with a better chance of getting an appointment.
Only people who attended their appointment and did not get a spot will be offered to join the waiting list.
Those who did not attend their appointment automatically forfeit this right. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please send an email to info@maisondelamitie.ca informing us in advance why you are unable to attend your appointment. We will contact you.
See registration procedures at the bottom of this page.
Registration priorities
Each new session we give registration priority in the following order:
1. Students enrolled in the previous session who passed the final exam and continue to the next level.
2. Students enrolled in the conversation courses in the previous session who wish to take the grammar course of the same language.
3. Students enrolled in the previous session who did not pass the final exam and continue in the same level (up to 2 times).
4. Students on the waiting list.
5. Former students who wish to re-enroll in the same language course and who were not enrolled in the previous session.
6. New students.
7. Students enrolled in the previous session who did not take the final exam (if you were unable to take the final exam, please send us an email explaining the reason to info@maisondelamitie.ca to evaluate your case).
In all cases, the date and time of pre-registration will be taken into account.
During the registration process, we leave a few places available to allow new students to take our language courses even if they are in sixth priority. However, demand for places can easily exceed the number available, especially in the evenings.

If you are a new student at the Maison de l'amitié for the language you want to study :
1. Take the placement test at the bottom of this page. This test allows you to register in our system, so all new students must take this test - even if you have no knowledge of the language. Under no circumstances can we guarantee you a place. Registration priorities are listed in the table above.
2. Complete an online pre-registration form to confirm your interest in the September session. This form will be available from Monday, August 25th. It is advisable to take the placement test as soon as possible, even if the pre-registration form is not yet available.
3. We will invite a number of people to a registration appointment, either in person at Maison de l'amitié or online at Zoom, whichever you prefer.
These appointments will take place from September 4th (and during the following week), during fixed time slots. Invitations will be sent out between September 3rd and September 11th.
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please report to reception during office hours to continue the registration process.
If you do not receive an invitation within a week and a half, please contact us at info@maisondelamitie.ca to inquire about your status.
4. During the appointment, we will let you know if we have a place to register you immediately at the time of your choice, or we will offer to place you on the waiting list.
If there is a place in the time slot of your choice: we will ask you to make payment on the spot to secure your place (you can pay by debit card, credit card or cash). The weekend before the start of classes you will receive a welcome email with all the information about your course.
If there is NO space available in your preferred time slot: we will offer to place you on the waiting list and you will have a higher priority for the next session (January 2026 session), following the Waiting List Student registration process.
The number of appointments we can give out is limited for each level. Priority will be determined according to the date we receive your placement test (first step). If we are unable to offer you an appointment, you will have to try again at the next session (January 2026 session), as a *New Student*.
We will keep your placement test, so you will not have to retake it if you wish to register for the next session. Taking multiple placement tests is counterproductive to your registration.
Taking several placement tests and pre-registrations is counter-productive to your registration process.
If you encounter difficulties registering online, we recommend that you visit our office to complete the process.
Step 1 :
Come back on Thursday, August 28th at 10:00 a.m. to fill out the pre-registration form!
Pre-registration for new students closed on September 25th at 9:55 a.m.
NOTE: Being on the waiting list means that you were invited to a registration appointment in a previous session, that you attended that appointment and that we verbally communicated to you that you were on the “waiting list” at that appointment. If this is not the case, you will have to follow the “New student” procedure again.
If you are on the waiting list for the last 4 months, please follow the steps below:
1. Fill out an online pre-registration form starting Tuesday, September 2nd.
We will process your application within the week that follows.
It is strongly recommended that you fill out the form before September 3rd to keep your priority as a former student. It is still possible to register after this date, but you will lose your priority. Please complete the pre-registration form, even if you have not received your final grade from the last session.
2. After validation, we will send you a link for making the online payment.
Please make your payment by September 10th to hold your spot.
3. You will receive the final confirmation and all details about your course by email in the days that follow.
If you have difficulty completing the online process, please visit our reception during office hours.
Come back on Tuesday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. to fill out the pre-registration form!
The pre-registration form for former students opened on Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:55 a.m.
